The Saturday Academy
The Saturday Academy is a learning community open to high school students from the Greater Newark area. The programís purpose is several-fold:
The Saturday Academy opened its doors at Rutgers University-Newark in 1983. In the intervening years, over 4,000 students have enrolled in the program.
The Academy provides an academic experience within a college setting. Between October and May, students are given opportunities to strengthen academic skills necessary for success in college.
The program’s faculty believe that each student enrolled has the ability to share ideas a member of a learning community committed to respecting the ‘whole student’. This means that the program goes beyond helping students to improve their test-taking skills; it is a conduit for assisting the individual student in identifying and refining personal behaviors that foster future success college.
